Welcome and Introduction

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has prepared a detailed blueprint called Reorganisation of Schools (ROS), in order to operationalize the GDE’s 10 Pillar approach and transform it into actual results on the ground. The Reorganisation of Schools will be carried out over a multi-year transformational programme that will promote holistic education, increase social cohesion, drive improved student performance, and route resources to schools in greatest need. The ROS aims to address the disparities in educational opportunities and resources among schools in Gauteng. By prioritizing schools in greatest need, the GDE intends to ensure that every student has access to quality education and equal opportunities for success. This transformational programme will involve various strategies such as infrastructure development, teacher training, and curriculum enhancement to uplift the education system as a whole.

Overview

All programmes within the Reorganisation of Schools umbrella are aimed at improving the overall quality of education and creating a more inclusive and equitable learning environment. These programmes focus on various aspects such as curriculum development, schools of specialisation, twinning schools, and project-based learning. Additionally, the Reorganisation of Schools initiative also emphasizes the importance of teacher training and professional development to ensure that educators are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality education.
